Hotel Tales Languages, Subtitles, and Voice
What Steam actually ships versus what this wiki translates — and how to split voice from text.
Hotel Tales is not an English-only product. The Steam store for app 3413800 lists fourteen interface and subtitle languages. Full audio is narrower. Patch 1.0.2 (August 3, 2026) added a separate voice-language control plus mute toggles for the protagonist and Narrator — the setting players actually needed after launch, because text language and voice packs are not the same checkbox. This guide maps the store table, the patch, common mix-ups, and how this wiki’s four locales relate to the game client. It does not invent extra dubs.
Always re-check the live language grid on the Steam store page. Regional storefronts sometimes hide rows; the developer table is the source of truth.
Steam language grid (August 2026)
| Language | Interface | Full audio | Subtitles |
|---|---|---|---|
| English | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Russian | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| French | Yes | No | Yes |
| Italian | Yes | No | Yes |
| German | Yes | No | Yes |
| Spanish — Latin America | Yes | No | Yes |
| Traditional Chinese | Yes | No | Yes |
| Simplified Chinese | Yes | No | Yes |
| Polish | Yes | No | Yes |
| Portuguese — Brazil | Yes | No | Yes |
| Portuguese — Portugal | Yes | No | Yes |
| Thai | Yes | No | Yes |
| Turkish | Yes | No | Yes |
| Japanese | Yes | No | Yes |
That is fourteen rows. Some third-party trackers mark Japanese with an audio asterisk; the public Steam grid as of late August 2026 shows full voice only on English and Russian. Treat the store checkmarks as primary. If TopHouse later ships a Japanese dub, this page will say so after the store updates — we will not guess.
Patch 1.0.2: split voice from text
Before August 3, several players reported menus in one language and spoken lines in another, or a client that seemed to follow Steam’s overlay language instead of the in-game setting. Changelog v1.0.2 added:
- Change voice language separately from interface/subtitles
- Mute the main character and/or the Narrator without muting the whole mix
- Fixes to voiceover language switching and pause-fade of voice plus other sounds
Install through v1.0.7 as well. 1.0.2 is the voice menu; 1.0.7 is save, coin, Gallery, and Hotel Stories VO hygiene. Pair this page with Saves & Voice for the practical click path.
Demo-era community notes also mentioned English questions with Russian replies when the wrong pack was selected. That is a client language mismatch, not a wiki translation bug. Set Steam play language, then the in-game voice dropdown, then restart once if lines stay mixed.
How to set languages without fighting Steam
- In the Steam library, right-click Hotel Tales → Properties → Language and pick the interface you want the store and first boot to respect.
- Launch the game on a build 1.0.2 or newer.
- Open Settings and set text / UI and voice as two fields. English text with Russian voice (or the reverse) is now an intended option.
- If you only dislike the protagonist or Narrator, use the mute toggles instead of turning all audio off — spa rhythm and disco still need SFX.
- Confirm Hotel Stories VO after 1.0.7 if you use the Gallery as a recap.
Steam Deck and handheld users should also skim Steam Deck because 16:10 UI clipping can hide the lower edge of settings panels.
Wiki locales versus game locales
This fan wiki ships English, French, German, and Spanish — the four locales in site.meta.json. That is an editorial choice for a complete, fully translated site. It is not a claim that TopHouse skipped Italian or Japanese in the game. Legal pages (Terms, Privacy, Cookies) stay English-only for every visitor by design.
If you play in Brazilian Portuguese or Japanese, use the Steam client for the game and this wiki in whichever of the four wiki languages you read most comfortably. We will not publish machine-translated filler pages for every Steam row.
Names that change between languages and marketing
Keep a small glossary so searches do not look like missing characters:
- Pasithea is the spa/disco siren on most English materials. Pasiphae / Pasiphea appears on Waifu Gala and crossover skin lists. Same person, different romanization.
- Laveau is the ghost bartender. Festival copy sometimes shortens her to Lavo.
- Sea Prince Marsh is the FEMBOY FUTA HOUSE guest; older posts say Underwater Prince / Prince of the Deep.
None of those spelling variants are extra romance routes. See Players and Romance Routes.
DLC language notes
Cosmetic packs (Artbook, Animations, Skins, Wallpapers, Soundtrack, comics) inherit the base game language setup. They do not add new dubs. Artbook and Animations Pack store pages list English and Russian interface rows the same way other DLC does. Folder names (Artbook, Animations, Comics, Wallpapers) stay English on disk even if your UI is French or German — DLC Catalog covers browse-local-files paths.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How many languages does Hotel Tales support on Steam?
Fourteen for interface and subtitles. Full voice acting is English and Russian on the public store grid. Confirm the live table before you buy.
Can I play with English text and Russian voice?
Yes after Patch 1.0.2. The changelog added a separate voice-language setting. Install through 1.0.7 as well for later save and Gallery fixes.
Does this wiki cover every Steam language?
No. The wiki is English, French, German, and Spanish. The game client still offers the full Steam list, including Japanese, Chinese, and Portuguese variants.
Is there a Japanese voice track?
The public Steam language grid shows Japanese interface and subtitles without a full-audio checkmark. English and Russian are the confirmed dubs.
Why do some lines mix English and Russian?
Usually the Steam play language and the in-game voice setting disagree, or you launched before 1.0.2. Set both, restart once, and see Saves & Voice.
