Hotel Tales Mini-Games Guide
Every hospitality task and bonus activity in the demo and full game.
Mini-games are the mechanical backbone of Hotel Tales. TopHouse Studio wraps story beats inside service tasks you perform as a probationary hire at the crossroads hotel. The Steam demo ships eight distinct activities across roughly two in-game days, while the July 31, 2026 full release promises deeper chains — from check-in to punishing rule-breakers. This guide explains each mini-game’s goal, controls, failure behavior, and relationship rewards. Read Controls for input basics and the Demo Walkthrough for chronological order.

Check-in
Goal: Assign arriving guests to correct rooms based on preferences, allergies, supernatural quirks, or VIP notes.
How it plays: Drag room keys or select floor cards, then confirm. Guest bio panels highlight deal-breakers (noise sensitivity, pool proximity, ritual space needs).
Tips:
- Read the full bio before clicking — the game punishes speed-read mistakes with mood debuffs.
- Wrong room rarely hard-fails; guests complain and you may redo assignment.
- First successful check-in unlocks tutorial Key Phrases for later arguments.
Links: Getting Started, Key Phrases.
Room service and messaging
Goal: Deliver food trays, packages, or sealed messages to glowing door hotspots within the shift timer.
How it plays: Hub map navigation with click-to-move between floors. Interact with prep stations, then carry items to marked doors.
Tips:
- Time-sensitive orders flash red; do those before optional corridor eavesdrops.
- Some deliveries trigger guest dialogue that grants Key Phrases — worth the detour on route-focused runs.
Suitcases and luggage sorting
Goal: Open baggage, read tags, and sort contents or assign bags to correct storage slots.
How it plays: Click-to-open, drag items to bins. Occasional contraband or oddities hint at guest arcs in the full game.
Tips:
- Inspect tags with double-click if your build supports it.
- Accuracy on first pass sometimes flags perfection achievements in demo checklist tools.
Cocktails at Laveau’s bar
Goal: Mix drinks to order by selecting bottles, shakers, and garnish steps in sequence; timed pours for spirit measures.
How it plays: Recipe UI lists steps; click ingredients, hold pour meter in green zone.
Tips:
- Mistakes trigger Laveau’s dry commentary — retry is free but costs evening minutes.
- High scores improve bar affinity, unlocking Romance Routes dialogue and defense-scene backup options.
- Pairs with Controls hold-and-release section.
Keys and security desk
Goal: Match physical keys or keycards to rooms and guest IDs without cross-assignments.
How it plays: Similar to check-in but emphasizes security tags, lost-key reports, and forbidden wing access.
Tips:
- Color-coded tags map to floor wings — memorize the palette early.
- Errors may spawn minor conflict scenes you resolve with stored Key Phrases.
Spa treatment (multi-stage)
Goal: Wash, lather, rinse, and clear debris from guests after long inter-dimensional travel.
How it plays: Sequential stages — apply product on hotspots, scrub, rinse, pick embedded twigs or leaves, repeat until cleanliness meter fills. Towel state visually tracks progress (called out in TopHouse devlogs).
Tips:
- Do not skip rinse — the game loops you back.
- Debris clicks are small; increase UI scale on Steam Deck if hotspots feel off — see System Requirements for 16:10 notes.
- Full spa completion gates one of the demo’s major reward scenes.
Featured in demo day two per Demo Walkthrough.
Pasithea disco rhythm (three stages)
Goal: Follow siren Pasithea through a three-stage rhythm sequence — hit beats, follow instructions, press notes on time.
How it plays: Indicators travel toward a hit line; click (or mapped key) on timing. Each stage adds density and visual flair.
Tips:
- Watch visuals more than audio if latency bothers you.
- Perfect tiers unlock the best animated reward; failures still advance with softer scene variant.
- Hardest demo mini-game — save before starting.
Character context: Players hub, Romance Routes.
Laveau ghost bartender defense
Goal: Protect Laveau from infernal entities draining her strength by reading enemy traits and selecting counter-weapons from a rack.
How it plays: Puzzle combat under timer — click foe, read trait panel (element, weakness, temperament), pick matching weapon icon. Waves escalate until cleanse completes.
Tips:
- Reading beats clicking — wrong weapon wastes precious seconds.
- Entities do not wait; expect pressure similar to devlog “clothes and situation tearing apart” humor.
- Success strongly flags Laveau route affinity and may alter Night Events bar outcomes later in retail.
Mini-games and story progression
Performance affects guest satisfaction and staff trust, which feeds evening options and phrase unlock rates. You do not need perfect scores to finish the demo, but 100% hunters should replay failed rhythm or defense tiers.
Retail-depth mini-games (post-demo)
The full release expands beyond the eight-demo core. Changelog v1.0.2 (August 3, 2026) specifically mentions polish for:
- Darkness — received a clearer magic circle visual aid during play.
- Steam for the Prince — magic-circle clarity plus a text fix called out in the patch notes. Pair it with the Sea Prince Marsh guest page.
Expect additional guest-specific tasks and rule-breaker punishment scenes in retail calendars. Practice the demo eight first, then tackle retail-named activities once department UI feels automatic. Full patch context: Patch 1.0.2. Official channels: Links.
Changelog v1.1.4 mini-game polish (August 18)
Patch 1.1.4 did not add a ninth demo activity. It named four retail boards that already existed and then retuned them:
| Activity (patch name) | What changed |
|---|---|
| Find the Key | Clearer character emotion display while you search |
| Collect Seeds | Improved voice acting on the activity lines |
| Find the Items | Item positions moved for a cleaner search path |
| Kitchen | Updated icons on the cooking board |
| Cocktails | VO polish (same bar loop as the demo, better lines) |
| Mini-games (general) | UI polish across activities |
If a hidden-object board still feels unfair, you are probably on a pre-1.1.4 client. Update Steam, then replay from a save before the activity rather than New Game. Pair map downtime after these tasks with Map Conversations — v1.1.4 added floor talks in the same build.
Kitchen and Collect Seeds are hospitality beats, not the Sex, Secrets & Used Tech store pairing. Do not buy a two-game cart because a mini-game is named Kitchen.
Changelog v1.2.1 (August 26)
Patch 1.2.1 is the first build that scales almost all mini-games with Easy / Normal / Hard. Set the level before a board you intend to retry — see Difficulty. The same notes improved both boss fights (more responsive combat) and updated the basement item search hidden-object board. Tutorial fixes and resolution adaptation sit beside those retunes. Map the two bosses on Boss Fights. If a pre-1.2.1 video of the basement search looks “wrong,” you are watching the old layout.
Recommended practice order for new players
- Check-in and keys (same UI language)
- Suitcases
- Room service routing
- Cocktails
- Spa
- Pasithea rhythm
- Laveau defense
That curve mirrors difficulty and appears naturally across the Demo Walkthrough. Once mini-games feel routine, attention shifts to Key Phrases, romance evenings, and optional horror hooks — where Hotel Tales differentiates itself from a standard job sim.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How many mini-games are in the Hotel Tales demo?
Eight core activities: check-in, room service, suitcases, cocktails, keys, spa, Pasithea disco rhythm, and Laveau bar defense.
Do I need perfect scores to see all demo scenes?
Rhythm and defense games gate top-tier animations on high performance, but story continues on failure. Replay from save for better outcomes.
Which mini-game is tied to Pasithea?
The three-stage disco rhythm event during evening social time. Complete stages for the best reward scene variant.
What is the Laveau mini-game about?
A timed trait-matching puzzle where you pick weapons that counter infernal enemy traits to protect the ghost bartender.
Will the full game add more mini-games?
Retail already names extra tasks such as Darkness, Steam for the Prince (Patch 1.0.2), Kitchen, Collect Seeds, Find the Items, and Find the Key (1.1.4 polish). Patch 1.2.1 scales almost all boards with Easy/Normal/Hard and retunes the basement item search. Re-check this page after new patches.
Does Patch 1.2.1 change mini-games?
Yes. Easy, Normal, and Hard affect almost all mini-games. Both boss fights are more responsive and the basement item search got a new layout. The slider does not flatten timed dialogue.
