Hotel Tales Comics Vol.1 & Vol.2

Parallel curse pages — not a substitute for the July 31 probation story.

Comics DLC Guide

Steam lists two Hotel Tales comic DLCs beside the base game (app 3413800): Comics Vol.1 — “The Curse of the Crown” (app 3669340, typically $0.99) and Comics Vol.2 — “The Bite That Broke Love” (app 4655580, typically $0.99). Both sit inside the Deluxe Edition eight-item bundle. Neither is the post-release story DLC promised at 80,000 wishlists. This page is the spoiler-light buyer’s note: what TopHouse said the comics are for, how they attach to Nikki, and when to buy singles versus Deluxe.

Confirm live prices on the store page. Regional carts differ. The launch-window -10% on the base game was a mid-August story; the public US storefront showed $14.99 again by August 15–16, 2026.

What official posts promised

The March 11, 2026 Deluxe announcement and the December 23, 2025 comic-series tease agree on tone:

  • Events that run parallel to the main hire’s shift, not a recap of days you already played
  • Exclusive scenes the standard build will not animate in-engine
  • A more daring look at relationships the hotel only hints at on the clock
  • Nikki’s marketing mystery: cute ears and a tail that were not a cat, but traces of a curse — Vol.1’s crown language sits on that hook

Vol.2’s title The Bite That Broke Love is the entire public synopsis. We will not invent a fox, a vampire, or a spoiler pairing. Read the file after you own it.

The December 2025 post said a series would publish alongside release. Two volumes on the July 31 store row is that promise landing as DLC, not as in-game chapters you unlock with Key Phrases.

How comics differ from other extras

ProductRole
Base gameComplete probation, 52 achievements, four staff + four guest arcs
Comics Vol.1 & 2Static / digital parallel lore
Animations Pack (4082160)20+ animated scenes in a local Animations folder
Artbook (4082150)200+ page creation book
Skins / wallpapers / soundtrackCosmetics and audio
Story DLCFuture guests and hinted mysteries — not shipped

Comics will not fix a 1.0.3 choice-save bug and will not pop Steam achievements. Install them for reading, then return to Retail Walkthrough.

Deluxe versus à-la-carte

Add the two comics at ~$1.98 if you only want Nikki’s parallel pages. Add Artbook + Animations + skins + soundtrack + wallpapers and the pile usually loses to Deluxe. Use the DLC Buyer Guide for the cart math. If you already own Deluxe, do not buy Vol.1 or Vol.2 again unless Steam shows a missing entitlement.

How to open the files

Steam delivery varies (library extra, PDF, image folder). After purchase:

  1. Confirm both volumes on the Hotel Tales DLC tab.
  2. Browse local files on the base install if the store text points at a folder — same habit as Artbook and Animations.
  3. Read after a blind first week if you want the in-game Nikki to stay surprising. The comic is designed to show what the hire does not fully see.

The Nikki-focused video on this page is presentation footage, not a panel recap.

When to read versus when to play

Read Vol.1 after you have met Nikki at the front desk and finished at least one luggage tutorial — the crown language lands better when you already know the ears-and-tail joke is a curse hook, not a costume pack. Save Vol.2 until after a first retail week if you want the bite title to stay a surprise. Neither volume is required for Owner Rewards or Troubleshooting. If a comic folder is missing after purchase, verify the DLC tab before assuming the install is broken.

The comics are a side corridor. The lobby still expects you at check-in.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How many Hotel Tales comic DLCs are on Steam?

Two launch volumes: The Curse of the Crown (3669340) and The Bite That Broke Love (4655580). Both are in Deluxe.

Do the comics replace story DLC?

No. They are parallel Nikki-centered lore. Post-release story DLC remains a separate, unreleased expansion.

Do I need Vol.1 to understand Vol.2?

TopHouse sold them as a series. Buy both if you care about the curse thread. The base game still completes without either.

Are comics required for achievements?

No. The 52 Steam Achievements track the base game. Comics are reading extras.

Where do I open the comic files?

Check the DLC tab, then Browse local files if Steam placed a folder next to Artbook and Animations.
